The Uniphone Series
The UNIPHONE is an exciting new concept in TTYs,
combining a telephone, TTY and amplified telephone - all in one!
Now, people who are deaf, hard of hearing or hearing can all share
one telephone. It is the telephone your whole family will enjoy.
A full-featured TTY, the UNIPHONE includes a bright 2-line display
and a comfortable keyboard to make TTY conversations easy. Its attractive,
modern design complements any room or office. It is perfect for
making Voice
Carry over (VCO) calls. With VCO, you speak directly to the
other person and read their typed responses on the display. VCO
calls can be made through a relay service, or directly between UNIPHONE
users. In a similar way, people who cannot speak can make Hearing
Carry over (HCO) calls. Turn up the volume on the amplified
handset to the most comfortable setting.
The UNIPHONE 1150 answers calls with the programmed greeting and

Business telephone systems
Using TTYs with PABX telephone systems
Yes, TTYs can be connected to PABX telephone systems.
However, it must only be into an analogue extension
socket suitable for FAX machines or dial-up modems. These lines
are the same as those used for home phones.
TTYs cannot be plugged into a digital extension
socket; they simply will not work.
If you cannot find a spare analogue socket, you
may need to contact your PABX supplier to arrange to have one installed,
or to convert an existing one.
The alternative is to have an external line
installed that doesn’t go through the PABX system, and which
will have it’s own phone number, independent of the PABX system.
