Infrared System:
Visitors can more clearly
follow courtroom proceedings, sermons, theatrical presentations
and more, thanks to the popularity
of the STARSOUND 600. Courtrooms, recorded tours, conference centers,
and live theatres commonly make System 600 receivers available
for free check-out when echo, distance, or background noise could
present barriers to clear speech understanding. The system is also
frequently used for simultaneous interpretation and audio description.
How it works:
STARSOUND 600 uses an infrared emitter and multiple
personal receivers to cover an area up to 370m2 (4.000ft2). The
house sound system plugs into the emitter. Using infrared light,
the emitter then broadcasts the signal to members of the audience
who are wearing personal receivers. The 600E emitter operates on
2.3/2.8 MHz frequencies - well above noise generated by energy-efficient
ballast lighting. It features 130 infrared LEDs, comes in a choice
of black or white, and is small enough to set up on a table-top
or a floor stand as well as mount on a wall. Additional input jacks
allow for simultaneous language interpretation or commentary over
other audio. Indicator lights for both Channel A and Channel B
allow the user to quickly confirm the signal. The emitters can
also be linked together to expand coverage.
Three simple receiver
options:
Facilities can make one of two STARSOUND
headset receivers available - the 602R or the 601R. Both feature
easy volume controls for each ear, last up to 20 hours on AAA alkaline
batteries, work with T-coil equipped hearing aids, have a 360° angle
for detecting the infrared signal, and are lightweight and comfortable.
The 602R is a two-channel headset, so users can choose from two
simultaneous programs on either Channel A or Channel B. The 601R
is a single channel stereo headset. The 600R is our body-worn receiver
available with the StarSound 600 System. It offers a choice of
listening options — stetoclip, monaural earbuds, binaural
earbuds, standard headset, or a neckloop. Users can choose between
two different programs on either Channel A or Channel B. A squelch
circuit eliminates white noise, while indicator lights tell the
user when batteries are low or when the unit is charging. Two AA
rechargeable batteries offer up to 35 hours of use; two AA alkaline
batteries typically last up to 80 hours.
